The CR450 prototype reached a test speed of 450 km/h, setting a new international benchmark in key performance indicators — operational speed, energy consumption, internal noise, and braking distance, official media reported here. Reported. This is significantly faster than the CR400 Fuxing High Speed Rail (HSR) currently in service, which operates at a speed of 350 km/h, state-run Xinhua said in a report.

China Railways will conduct a series of line tests for prototypes and improve technical specifications to ensure the CR450 enters commercial service as soon as possible, it said. According to the latest official data, China’s operational HSR tracks have reached nearly 47,000 km, connecting the country’s major cities.
Although unprofitable, China says the expansion of the HSR network has contributed to the country’s economic and social development, reducing travel times and promoting industrial development along railway lines.
According to internal surveys, the Beijing-Shanghai train service was the most profitable, while networks in other cities have yet to become profitable.
In recent years, China’s HSR exported its network to Thailand and Indonesia, and built the Belgrade-Novi Sad HSR in Serbia.
