ISLAMABAD: CDA’s weekly bazaar at Peshawar Mor, one of the busiest and most vibrant bazaars in the country, is not only a hub for affordable clothes, food and groceries but also a beacon of empowerment for women traders.

Although traditionally male-dominated, the weekly market has section C, which has been dominated by women entrepreneurs for the past few years, where they run stalls selling various products and earn a decent living.

Samira Moeed, who recently set up a stall selling purses and accessories, shared her experience, “I have been running this stall for a month now, while the environment here is quite safe.

We ensure quality products at slightly lower prices than the market. Female customers feel comfortable shopping with us. “She emphasized the importance of financial independence, urging women to embrace commerce as a viable career path.

He urged the authorities concerned to increase security measures to ensure the safety of women in particular. Another trader, Raheela, highlighted that popular business ventures for women in the bazaar include selling children’s clothes, toys, women’s goods and food items.

She noted that these items offer good returns and are suitable for women entrepreneurs who are looking for a decent earning opportunity. Another shopper Farah, who visited the market for the first time, said, “I was initially skeptical about the quality, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The products are excellent, and the prices are lower than the local market. I feel comfortable and encouraged when buying anything from female sellers.

“Having a separate section for women traders makes shopping easier and more comfortable for women like me,” said Amina, a regular visitor. The craftsmanship here is particularly impressive, although the prices have gone up this year.” She added, “It makes me proud to see these women thrive. She is empowering not only herself but her family, setting an example for others.”
