Whether you’re looking for last-minute essentials or trying to stock up on extra gear so you New yeara trip to the supermarket is inevitable during the festive period.
This year the likes of Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons have stocked up on fabulous New Year grubs for everyone to enjoy.
But, with many shops planning to close their doors at different times in the coming days, knowing where to pick up some extra food or drinks can be confusing.
So, to help make things a little easier for you, we’ve compiled a handy list of major supermarket opening and closing times over the festive period.
Tesco
Tesco Store opening hours vary across the country, so shoppers are advised to check with their local store before heading out.
Reduced hours will be in place on New Year’s Day.
- 1 January – Superstores open from 8am to 6pm, Express stores from 8am to 10pm
Asda
Asda Stores will operate reduced hours on New Year’s Day.
- New Year’s Day – Open 9am to 6pm.
Sainsbury’s
Normal hours will resume. Sainsbury’sstores on Jan. 2, while hours will be reduced on New Year’s Day.
- January 1 – Open from 8 am to 8 pm (convenience stores are open from 8 am to 9 pm)
The Morrisons
The Morrisons Shops vary, closing at 6pm or 7pm. New Year’s Day hours will also be reduced before normal hours resume on January 2.
- January 1 – Open 9am to 6pm.
Marks and Spencer
Most stores are expected to be closed on New Year’s Day but shoppers are advised to check with their local store.
Aldi
Aldi Will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Liddle
Lidl stores will be closed on New Year’s Day.
Waitrose
Most of the stores WaitroseK’s Welcome Break service stations as well as Shell petrol stations will remain closed on New Year’s Day. A smaller number will reportedly be open to the public and for Uber Eats and Deliveroo orders.
