The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has received more than 72,000 Hajj applications as the official scheme’s Tuesday deadline approaches.
Ministry of Religious Affairs Spokesperson Mohammad Umar Butt said that designated banks will continue to accept applications for the official Hajj scheme till tomorrow evening.
Additionally, he said applicants can join the Hajj groups of their relatives under the scheme for convenience.
To enroll in the regular Hajj scheme, Umar said applicants need to deposit an initial amount of Rs 200,000 and the second installment, total 400,000 (including extras), must be paid within 10 days of the draw. The last installment is to be paid by February 10.
He also highlighted that overseas Pakistanis can sponsor Hajj applications for themselves or their loved ones, enabling them to participate in the holy Hajj through this scheme.
“This initiative will facilitate applicants by ensuring a smooth and transparent process of Hajj,” he said.
Furthermore, Umar said that the ministry has announced the 40th annual National Memorization and Recitation Competition, inviting nominations from all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the district and provincial level competitions have been directed to be held, the provinces have been directed to finalize their nominations and submit them by January 15.
The spokesman further emphasized that the winners at the national level will get an opportunity to represent Pakistan in international competitions by showcasing their talent at the global level.
Omar said that this year’s competition includes separate categories for boys, girls and youth, ensuring equal opportunities for participants from all age groups and regions.
He said that this initiative will help in promoting Quranic education across the country and nurturing young talents.
