LAHORE: Cold and partly cloudy weather was recorded in the city on Wednesday while the Meteorological Department has predicted similar weather for the next 24 hours.
Meteorological department officials said that the frontal weather system is likely to enter the western parts of the country and may persist in the upper regions till January 6. He predicted that rain/snowfall is expected in North/West Balochistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas. Moderate to isolated heavy rain/snowfall is expected over upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during evening/night. Moderate to dense fog is expected in most plains of Punjab and upper Sindh. Cold and partly cloudy weather is expected in other parts of the country.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was recorded in Skardu and Gops, where the mercury fell to minus 09 degrees Celsius, while in Lahore it was 6.6 and the maximum was 14 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the city recorded an average AQI of 214 while the maximum crossed 400. Data collected from IQAir showed that the PM2.5 concentration was 27.8 times the WHO annual PM2.5 guideline value. He said that the most polluted areas of the cities are American Consulate (493), Phase 8-DHA (383), Pine Avenue (322), near Ada Plot, Raiwand Road (304), University of Management and Technology (304), Bedian Road included. (290), Polo Ground Cantt (284), Askari 10 (266) and Ghazi Road Interchange (242).
