Ambassador of Czech Republic Ladislav Stienhubel called on Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab at Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Head Office on Monday.
The two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest with a focus on enhancing relations between the two regions. Wahab warmly welcomed the ambassador and briefed him about Karachi’s glorious history and ongoing development projects to improve the city’s infrastructure. The talks focused on areas of mutual cooperation including investment, energy, tourism and training.
He emphasized the importance of Karachi as the industrial and business hub of Pakistan, highlighting its strategic geographical location and abundant investment opportunities. He said that the current government is working to create a favorable environment for investors by creating industrial zones to increase exports and stabilize the national economy.
Furthermore, the Mayor emphasized the importance of foreign partnerships in the development of Karachi. He said that such cooperation will greatly benefit the citizens of both countries, with the aim of providing facilities to the residents of Karachi compared to developed cities around the world. A coordinated, systematic strategy was being followed to achieve this objective, with the full support of the provincial government.
In his remarks, Wahab invited Czech investors and experts to explore Karachi’s potential, stressing that visits by business delegations could strengthen bilateral ties and open new avenues of cooperation. Steinhöbel praised Karachi’s role as an important business hub and acknowledged that the city’s growth would have positive effects on Pakistan as a whole.
