ISLAMABAD: After serving nearly three years in Pakistan, US Ambassador Donald Bloom has officially resigned from his post, ending his diplomatic tenure in Islamabad. According to the spokesperson of the US Embassy in Islamabad, he will leave Pakistan today (Saturday).

“Mr. Bloom’s transition comes as part of the normal U.S. Foreign Service rotation process,” the spokesman said.

U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Natalie Baker will serve as Charge d’Affaires to oversee the day-to-day operations of the U.S. Embassy in the interim until a new ambassador is appointed.

The outgoing ambassador said that during his tenure as ambassador, he worked with Pakistani friends to enter a new chapter in bilateral partnership.

“Over the past three years, we have worked together to tackle some of the biggest challenges of our time, including tackling the COVID pandemic and helping millions rebuild after the devastating floods of 2022. “We’ve created jobs and opportunities that lift people up, and we’ve increased access to quality health care and education,” he said.
