Travis Kelce gave a shout out to Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker for getting the team through a penalty after a record-breaking touchdown in the final game.
The 35-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end scored a penalty after his touchdown celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 25, when he slapped the football through the goal post as a tribute to Tony Gonzalez, whose record he just broke. was broken
Kelce passed Gonzalez for the all-time record for most touchdown receptions.
However, because of the celebratory kick, Buttaker was forced to kick the extra point 48 yards instead of the usual 33 yard attempt as a penalty.
When the game ended, the NFL star told reporters that he knew Buttaker would have his back so he wasn’t worried about the outcome.
“I knew the score,” he said. “I knew my boy Harrison had my back at the field goal.”
Taylor Swift’s Beau’s fourth-quarter touchdown and Butker’s extra point gave the Chiefs a 29–10 lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers, which ended up being the final score.
The latest victory over the Christmas game guaranteed Kansas City the No. 1 seed in the AFC, securing a first-round bye in the playoffs.
In his winning speech, Kelce honored Gonzalez, who spent the first 12 seasons of his illustrious NFL career with the Chiefs.
“It’s showing Tony some love and just a great tribute to who he’s been, not just in this organization, but who he’s been for football. We know how popular it was. He dunked the ball through the goal post all the time,” said the soccer star.
“I gave it my best. I don’t know if I did it quite like him. I gave it a run,” he added with a smile.
