Thomas Taylor: Four youths in court over Bedford bus station murder

Four youths have appeared in court after a 17-year-old was stabbed to death near a town center bus station.

Thomas Taylor was attacked by a group of men while walking on Greenhill Street near Bedford bus station at 17:50 GMT on Wednesday, Bedfordshire Police said.

Ahmed Adam and Bennett Andinke, both 18, and two other teenagers aged 16 and 17, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Luton Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Adam, of Merdale Close, Kempston, Bedford, and Andinke, of Midland Road, Bedford, were in the dock together, wearing gray tracksuits, and spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.

Two other teenagers appeared in the dock a short time later, a 16-year-old wearing a navy suit and blue shirt and a 17-year-old wearing a black suit and white shirt.

The two teenagers, whose families were in court, spoke only to give their names, dates of birth and ages.

None of the defendants were asked to enter pleas during the hearing.

District Judge Cam Low remanded the two adult defendants in custody and the two youths in youth detention accommodation to appear at Luton Crown Court on Wednesday.

A 16-year-old boy, who was also arrested in connection with the incident on Saturday, has been released on bail as inquiries continue, police said.
