ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has announced to accept the proposal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Barrister Gohar Khan to form a parliamentary committee for possible negotiations between the government and the opposition.

In response to a question regarding Barrister Gauhar’s remarks at an earlier media talk, he said, “Following PTI’s recommendation to form a negotiation panel, the Prime Minister has been approached to form a government negotiation team. ”

Sadiq said that the PTI Chairman has recognized the Speaker’s role as a watchdog of the House and requested him to actively participate in the talks.

He said that I accept Barrister Gauhar Khan’s proposal to form a negotiation committee.

The Speaker emphasized that the solution of the country’s problems lies in the negotiations. He said that we want to solve the problems and political instability should end.

Earlier speaking to the media outside the court in Islamabad, Gohar said that the Speaker of the National Assembly has assured him of forming a committee for negotiations. He hoped that the committee would be constituted by today (Sunday).

In response to another question, Gauhar said that civil disobedience movement will also be launched.

The statement by the Speaker of the National Assembly comes after his recent offer to mediate between the government and the opposition, saying that his office and home are always available for the purpose.

Sources further said that the parliamentary committee will be entrusted with the full authority to deliberate on important negotiation points and take decisions regarding the negotiations between the government and the opposition.
