ISLAMABAD: After a massive operation against protesters, the situation is gradually returning to normal in the federal capital on Wednesday and business activities are resuming and educational institutions are likely to reopen from tomorrow.

Roads that were closed due to the protests are now accessible again, an official said.

Cleaning operations including removal of containers from important places like red zone are going on under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon, who has directed Assistant Commissioners to vacate their respective areas.

He stressed that all available resources are being utilized to clear the roads quickly, with the aim of opening them to citizens by morning.

He has also directed to complete the cleaning efforts on all the roads of the city by that time.

DC Memon stressed the administration’s determination to resolve the issue expeditiously, saying, “Our aim is to reopen the roads to the citizens as soon as possible.”

The Deputy Commissioner also directed his team to ensure cleanliness on all major highways after removing the obstructions, ensuring that the roads remain safe and accessible to the public.

The Murree Road clearance process is going on simultaneously, the work of removing containers from the Murree road, which has been closed for three days due to protests, is going on.

In another development, all the motorways have been reopened for traffic after the PTI ended its protest.

Routes to Islamabad and Lahore are also restored.

Motorway Police confirmed that Motorway M-2 has been reopened to traffic between Lahore and Islamabad, and Motorway M-11 is now open to traffic from Lahore to Sialkot. Additionally, motorways M-4, M-14, and M-3 have also resumed operations.
