The Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, Sindh Inspector General of Police and Rangers on petitions filed by law enforcement officials against the enforced disappearance of a citizen.
Petitioners Shabana Begum and Sikandar Hilal stated in their petitions that the officials of the law enforcement agencies picked Umar Musab and Asher Hilal, expert entomologists of the Plant Protection Department of the Ministry of Food, from Shahra Noor Jahan and Malir areas and took them to their abode. He maintained that the police and law enforcement officials were not disclosing the whereabouts of the detained persons and they were not being produced in any court of law. The petitioner’s counsel submitted that Musab has been missing since December 5. A division bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice Muhammad Faisal Kamal Alam issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, Inspector General of Police and Rangers after preliminary hearing of the petitions and directed them to comment on the matter.
