ISLAMABAD: The Senate Secretariat on Wednesday wrote to the Registrar Supreme Court to make PTI Barrister Syed Ali Zafar a member of the Judicial Commission following the resignation of Syed Shibli Faraz.
Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, Shibli, has resigned and has nominated Ali Zafar, the parliamentary leader of the party in the Upper House.
The Additional Secretary Senate wrote to the Supreme Court Registrar about the resignation of Shibli and the nomination of Ali Zafar in his place.
On the instructions of Imran Khan, founder chairman of PTI, Shibli resigned as a member of the commission. Already Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and senior leader of the party Umar Ayub Khan has resigned from the membership of the commission citing several cases filed against him. Umar Ayub has nominated party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan to represent the party in the commission.
Also, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, who had resigned from the party post and later retracted his resignation at the direction of the leadership, clarified that there were no differences between him and Bushra Bibi.
Talking to the media at the Islamabad High Court, he explained that his resignation was an internal matter of the party and was not related to any personal differences. He said that continuous cases are being made against us and this is now a test of our judicial system.
He asserted that his party will continue to fight the legal battle along with the political battle. He pointed out that his legal team is reviewing hundreds of cases of workers and their remand will be challenged.
