King Charles III has apparently decided to show his strength amid speculation that Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing for their respective roles.
The 76-year-old king has decided to make more foreign visits this year as his health continues to improve.
The palace has announced the king’s plans for 2025, confirming that the monarch will travel to Poland later this month to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The monarch will attend a memorial service at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and Memorial in Poland on January 27. This will be the king’s fifth visit to the country.
Earlier, it was announced that King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla could travel to Italy for an important meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican.
The historic audience will see Charles become the first British monarch to meet a Catholic leader in a decade, and his first meeting with the Pope as monarch.
The announcement about the monarch’s visits comes amid reports that Prince William is taking more power than his cancer-stricken father, King Charles, as he approaches the throne.
William, who is next in line to become king, is said to be having a say in several key decisions about the firm’s long-term future.
Insiders also claim that William has never been more influential in recent months, and is not shying away from making decisions that he feels will benefit the crown prince in the long term.
