ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) Rafat Mukhtar Raja recently visited the ‘130 Helpline, Emergency Operation Center’ GPS Tracking System, and Public Service Vehicle Management Center (PSV-MIS). . Motorway (M-2) North Toll Plaza, a press release said.
During his visit, he closely inspected the GPS tracking system used to monitor vehicles patrolling national highways and motorways across Pakistan. The IG reviewed the performance of these vehicles and directed the officers to take steps to further enhance the efficiency and functionality of the digital GPS system. Motorway Police officers briefed them on the operational performance of the system and its role in road safety.
Along with Additional IG North Region Yasin Farooq and DIG Motorway (M-2) North Salman Ali Khan, IG also reviewed the ongoing operations of (PSV-MIS). On this occasion, he highlighted the importance of Public Service Vehicles Management System in ensuring timely inspection and improving road safety. The IG said that the National Highways and Motorway Police is leveraging modern technology for comprehensive and efficient digital and physical inspection of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs).
The implementation of a speed control monitoring system in the Salt Range is an example of the use of advanced technology to enhance road safety. Plans are underway to set up a Public Service Vehicles Information Management System at all major toll plazas on motorways and highways. So far, more than 13,000 buses, 16,000 drivers and 608 transport companies have been registered through this state-of-the-art system. This has significantly reduced accidents by enabling better monitoring. The system also maintains detailed records of PSV owners and staff, allowing quick action on complaints and suggestions. The IG emphasized that creating a safe driving environment on national highways and motorways is the top priority of the National Highways and Motorway Police.
