The leader of the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, Ali Shurari, has said that Karachi has been paralyzed for the last ten days due to the inability of the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to restore peace in Parachinar.
The opposition leader belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan said this while holding a press conference on the disturbed law and order situation in the city for the last two days due to protest sit-ins at important road intersections. He expressed regret that the KP government has failed to perform its basic duties. The opposition leader said that as a result of this, a protest sit-in was called in Karachi in view of the importance of the city, due to which the citizens faced severe problems for ten days.
He said that restoring peace in Parachinar should have been a priority task for the KP government. Instead he was busy attacking Islamabad. Soorshi said that peace in Karachi is a condition for the prosperity and development of Pakistan.
He said that no one protesting should challenge the writ of the state. He made it clear that MQM Pakistan will not compromise on the peace of Karachi. He said that MQM will stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan Armed Forces and other law enforcement agencies for this purpose.
The opposition leader said that many precious lives including political leaders and workers were lost to restore peace in Karachi. He said that attacks on police personnel on the streets of Karachi are not acceptable.
He also recalled the services of MQM Pakistan in maintaining communal harmony in the city. He suspected that there is a conspiracy to spoil the atmosphere of communal peace in Karachi. The opposition leader said that followers of all sects live peacefully in Karachi and respect people of other religious schools of thought. He said that one who denies the economic and political importance of Karachi is not a patriotic citizen.
