KARACHI: A young nurse faced a horrific backlash for expressing her desire to marry her partner, as her family opposed the match and tortured her by partially shaving her head as punishment. made

The police registered a case against the criminals and arrested 5 accused including the nurse’s father, mother and grandmother.

SHO Farast Hussain said Geo News That the 22-year-old victim, who works as a paramedic in a local hospital in Karachi, lodged an FIR (No. 831/24) at Quaidabad Police Station.

The nurse expressed her desire to marry a man who works with her at the same facility, to which her family backlashed.

On refusal, her father and other family members, including an uncle, physically assaulted her, shaving her hair to prevent her from stepping outside.

Police investigation revealed that the victim’s parents had separated seven months ago and she and her sisters had moved into a rented house at her mother’s house.

Since last month, his father has been visiting him often to pressure him to go back to his place. It was then that the nurse expressed her desire to marry her partner.

On December 12, the nurse claimed that her father beat her and her sisters again, after which they temporarily took refuge at a friend’s house in Greentown.

She further said that on December 20, her parents, uncle and other relatives came to her friend’s house in the afternoon, beat her, tore her clothes and shaved her head.

They took her to her father’s house in Quaidabad, where she was falsely imprisoned, she said, adding that the police rescued her from false imprisonment when she managed to contact her lawyer. .

Responding to the complaint, the police arrested five people, including his father, mother, grandmother, uncle and a female neighbor. Later, the accused were produced in the court from where their bail was granted. Police confirmed that further investigation is underway to uncover more details about the case.
