Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on Sunday highlighted the importance of cultural activities while appreciating the efforts of the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) for the promotion of art, culture and literature.
During the ACP general body meeting which he presided over, Naqvi assured the council of the government’s support, saying that places like the Faizi Rahmeen Art Gallery and the YMCA were made available for ACP programs whenever required. will go
He said that the government has continuously supported the Arts Council and will continue to do so. He also encouraged the Council to play an important role in promoting artistic and cultural activities across the country to expand its literary and cultural initiatives to other cities of Pakistan.
The commissioner also disclosed on the occasion that talks are on to grant the status of a prestigious art university to the Karachi Arts Council. Earlier in the meeting, ACP Karachi President Mohammad Ahmad Shah highlighted the international recognition of the council through cultural initiatives. He pointed to the success of its World Cultural Fair, in which 40 countries participated, with more than 450 artists presenting more than 100 cultural performances.
A large number of ACP members participated in the meeting. Karachi Arts Council Secretary Prof. Ejaz Farooqui and other members of the governing body were among the important participants, including Deputy Commissioner Altaf Sario. The event reiterated the Council’s commitment to raise Pakistan’s global cultural profile through its continued efforts.
