A school building ordered closed two years after it opened is to be demolished in early spring, according to council documents.
Buckton Fields Primary School in Boughton, near Northampton, opened in 2021 but was forced to close in August 2023 by the Department for Education (DfE) due to structural safety concerns.
Temporary classrooms have since been built on another part of the site and a new permanent building will be ready by September 2026, the plans confirm.
Approval is expected from West Northamptonshire Council’s planning committee. Previous planning permission for temporary buildings at their next meeting on January 8.
Pupils had to attend Penham Barns School six miles (10 km) away for six months, while temporary classrooms were set up in the playground.
Buckton Fields was one of three schools in Great Britain – together Sir Frederick Gibbard College in Harlow And Highgrove School in Somerset – Closed by the DfE.
They shared the same building contractor, Caledonian Modular, which went into administration in March 2022.
Despite the challenges, the school was rated “good.” Ofsted rating in July.

According to the latest plans presented by the DfE, permission will be sought for new construction as early as 2025.
If all goes as expected, the temporary buildings will be demolished in the summer of 2025 and the playing pitch will be restored.
Buckton Fields Primary, which is managed by the Preston Hedges Trust, currently has temporary accommodation for 45 staff and 300 pupils.
The former modular building was designed to accommodate 420 pupils and had 170 on roll when it closed.
The council received two letters of objection objecting to the previous planning permission.
Proposals for 376 homes as well as a school were initially approved in 2013.
