Imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan suffered another blow, Rawalpindi’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on May 9, 2023 General Headquarters (GHQ) attack on the former prime minister. Charged in the case.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the case in a make-shift court setup at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Khan, who has been behind bars for over a year, has denied the allegations leveled against him.

More than 143 people, including Khan, have been named as accused in the case, while 23 people, including Zulfiqar Bukhari and Shahbaz Gul, are absconding. Moreover, all the accused have been banned from traveling abroad.

In May last year, alleged Khan supporters and activists rioted, attacked and vandalized military installations, including the General Headquarters (GHQ), in protest against the party founder’s arrest in a £190 million case.

Subsequently, several PTI leaders and activists were arrested in connection with the May 9 tragedy.
