The weather is likely to remain cold in the country as the Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snowfall in different parts of the country from December 7 on Friday.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast snow in the mountains along with rain in the upper parts of the country due to a cold wave affecting most parts of the country from December 8 to 14, adding to the smog. It will help in providing relief to the residents. – Affected areas.
It has predicted a significant drop in day and night temperatures due to cold wave conditions.
The day temperature in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir is likely to be 4 to 6 degrees Celsius lower than normal, while in Balochistan and Sindh it is likely to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius lower than normal.
The Meteorological Department says that Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Astor, Ghazar, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad will experience light rain and thundershowers in the mountains. There is a possibility of Rawalkot, Kotli, Haveli and Bagh from December 7 to 11 with occasional gaps.
On December 7 and 8, Murree, Galiat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Khushab, Faisalabad and Jhang are likely to experience light to moderate rain and snow in the mountains.
Regarding the possible impact, the PMD advised farmers to manage their activities keeping in mind the weather forecast, especially frost conditions.
It added that citizens should avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during cold and windy weather during night and morning hours.
The PMC advised tourists and travelers visiting the hilly areas to be cautious during this time.
The Meteorological Department asked all concerned authorities to remain alert and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation especially in northern areas.
