Karachi, Quetta: As we enter the second week of December, there has been a significant change in the temperature of different areas of Karachi and Balochistan.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the mercury dropped by two degrees Celsius in Karachi compared to the last two days.
In the capital of Sindh, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.7 degrees Celsius during the last 24 hours and it is currently at 13 degrees Celsius.
PMD added that with northeasterly winds blowing at a speed of seven kilometers per hour, the temperature in the city is expected to reach a maximum of 29°C.
Meanwhile, winter has arrived in Balochistan as well, the temperature in Quetta, the provincial capital, was recorded at minus 2 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, the mercury dropped to -7 degrees Celsius and -3 degrees Celsius in Kalat and Mustang respectively.
Moreover, the northern and central regions of the province are also witnessing extreme cold and water has frozen in many areas.
The daily life of the citizens is badly affected due to inclement weather along with unannounced gas and electricity outages.
The change in weather came as the Meteorological Department warned of a “mild cold wave” in Sindh on Saturday, with night temperatures forecast to hover between 7-9°C.
On Friday, the Meteorological Department predicted further intensification of the ongoing cold wave in the country due to the effect of rains and snowfall.
