LAHORE: The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the provincial capital remained unhealthy on Sunday, while the Meteorological Department has predicted cold and dry weather for the next 24 hours.
According to data collected from IQAir, the city had an average AQI of 178, which fell into the ‘unhealthy’ category. It said that the PM2.5 concentration in Lahore is currently 18.8 times the WHO annual air quality guideline value.
AQI of different areas of the city include Bedian Road (249), Polo Ground Cantt (227), WWF-Pakistan (198), Gulberg (189), University of Central Punjab (189), Ghazi Road Interchange (184), Lahore American School. were included. (180), Phase 8-DHA (177), Valencia Town (170), US Consulate (168), Johor Town (168), Askari 10 (164) and Quaid-e-Azam Highway (130).
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department says that a westerly wave is present in the western and upper parts of the country and is likely to intensify from tonight. He predicted rain/storm/thunderstorm (snowfall over mountains) over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, North Balochistan, Upper/Central Punjab and Islamabad. Cold and dry weather is expected in other parts of the country. Isolated plains of Punjab and upper Sindh are likely to experience light fog during morning/night hours. Rain was recorded in different cities of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Sunday, the lowest temperature was recorded in Leh where the mercury dropped to minus 09 degree Celsius while in Lahore it was 11 and maximum 27 degree Celsius.
