The boy was stabbed in the street after a gang chase in Stenhouse.

A 16-year-old boy is being treated in hospital for stab wounds after being attacked by a gang of youths in Edinburgh.

The attack happened on Stenhouse Avenue West at around 21:00 on Sunday.

The police said that the reason for the stabbing could not be ascertained.

Officers are making house-to-house inquiries and collecting CCTV footage from in and around the area.

Det Sgt Kim Tennant said: “It is important that we trace those responsible.

“We have been made aware of possible footage of this incident circulating online. If anyone has seen this footage, please, Get in touch.

“If you have doorbell recording equipment or dash cams, please check the footage as it may contain important images that could help us identify those responsible for this attack.”
