Stock market today: Indian Equity Benchmark Index, BSE Sensex And the Nifty50, opened flat in trade on Wednesday. While the BSE Sensex was above 80,000, Nifty50 was around 24,180. At 9:17 am, the BSE Sensex was trading up 5 points or 0.065 percent at 80,009.24. The Nifty 50 was down 8 points or 0.032 percent at 24,186.70.
Global markets gave up early gains on Tuesday after two days of higher moves amid unfavorable global indices. A positive development came in as FIIs turned buyers after continuous selling across 38 trading sessions. However, experts point out that an eventual change in FII behavior requires consistent buying patterns.
Siddhartha Khemka, head of wealth management, research, Motilal Oswal, said, “In the absence of any major stimulus in the near term going forward, the market is likely to strengthen across a broad range, but stock/sector specific action will continue. is likely.”
Sharekhan’s Jatin Gidia says the current price action indicates a temporary halt in the upward momentum towards 24,770 – 24,800. He suggests considering a minor decline towards 24,070 – 24,050 as a buying opportunity.
U.S. equities rose on Tuesday, with technology shares rallying as investors weighed Trump’s trade policies and Federal Reserve minutes.
Asian equities opened cautiously after Trump’s tariff announcements. Sydney showed gains while Tokyo and Seoul declined. US equity futures were steady after the S&P 500 posted its seventh straight gain, its 52nd record high this year.
FPIs made a net investment of Rs 1,157 crore on Tuesday, while DIIs sold shares worth Rs 1,910 crore.
