Reliance Industries retained its position as the top company in the Sensex ranking, followed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Last week was no less than remarkable for the stock market with the benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE Sensex) gaining 657.48 points or 0.84%. Meanwhile, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty index gained 225.9 points or 0.95 percent. The combined market value of the top six companies on the Sensex added a total of Rs 86,847.88 crore during the period, with HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries leading the charge and rewarding their investors handsomely. .
Market performance of key companies
Over the course of the week, the market capitalization of several major companies saw significant gains, while a few others experienced declines. Notably, HDFC Bank, Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, ITC, and Hindustan Unilever emerged as the big winners, adding impressively to their market valuations.
On the other hand, stocks like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, State Bank of India (SBI), and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) saw their market values decline.
The companies that benefited the most
According to PTI, HDFC Bank saw its market capitalization rise by Rs 20,235.95 crore to Rs 13,74,945.30 crore. Similarly, Reliance Industries saw an increase of Rs 20,230.9 crore, with a market value of Rs 16,52,235.07 crore. ITC also saw a substantial increase of Rs 17,933.49 crore, taking its market capitalization to Rs 5,99,185.81 crore.
ICICI Bank gained Rs 15,254.01 crore, taking its market value to Rs 9,22,703.05 crore. Bharti Airtel added Rs 11,948.24 crore to its market value, rising to Rs 9,10,735.22 crore. Finally, Hindustan Unilever recorded an increase of Rs 1,245.29 crore, taking its market capitalization to Rs 5,49,863.10 crore.
In contrast, several companies saw their market capitalization decline during the week. State Bank of India (SBI) saw its market value decline by Rs 11,557.39 crore, to Rs 7,13,567.99 crore. LIC’s market capitalization declined by Rs 8,412.24 crore, taking its value to Rs 5,61,406.80 crore. Infosys recorded a decline of Rs 2,283.75 crore, its market value stood at Rs 7,95,803.15 crore. Finally, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) saw a marginal decline of Rs 36.18 crore, taking its valuation to Rs 15,08,000.79 crore.
