Rawalpindi: Senior leader of ruling party Pakistan Muslim League (N) Siddiqui Farooq died on Sunday after illness.
Family sources revealed that the veteran politician was suffering from a heart condition.
During his political career, Farooq served as the press secretary of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the information secretary of the Muslim League-N.
Farooq also served as Chairman of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) and Chairman of House Building Finance Corporation.
His funeral prayer will be offered (tomorrow) at 11 am at H-11 graveyard in Islamabad.
Reacting to the sad news, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed grief over the demise of the late PML-N leader.
Condoling his family, the Prime Minister said that Muslim League (N) has lost a sincere politician and his services to the party will always be remembered.
Meanwhile, Muslim League (N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui paid tribute to Farooq, describing him as a man of strong ideas and loyalty who showed exemplary courage in difficult times and refused to be a witness against Nawaz Sharif.
Describing his services for democracy as unforgettable, the senator said that Farooq’s death is a great loss to journalism and politics.
