PESHAWAR: A senior security official has questioned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PTI government’s move to hold talks with terrorists at a time when soldiers are laying down their lives in the fight against terrorists.
The official was speaking a day before the battle after the provincial assembly passed a resolution moved by a PTI member supporting talks with terrorist groups and opposing military operations in the province.
On 6 December 2024, PTI MPA from Khyber Abdul Ghani Afridi and Adnan Wazir from Bannu presented a resolution in the provincial assembly opposing the ongoing military operation against militants in Bannu and Khyber.
The resolution said that operations are not the solution to the problem, many operations have been done in the past. A lasting solution should be found through dialogue.” KP Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information Saif told this correspondent that maintaining law and order is the primary responsibility of the provincial government.
“We are taking appropriate steps to protect our citizens. KP assembly members are representatives of the people and express their opinions based on local conditions and the needs of their constituencies. He added that PTI’s The policy is very clear: No operation will be carried out without the permission of the provincial government. The PTI government will decide when and where such an operation is required. The government will not allow any operation in the province will not give
The official recalled that in 2022, the PTI had adopted a policy of negotiating with TTP groups, resettling them, legitimizing their demands, and even supporting the idea of providing them with offices. . And now once again a resolution has been passed against military operations against these extremists in areas like Wadi Tirah and Jani Khel in Bannu. In recent months, many officers and jawans of Pakistan Army have laid down their lives in Bannu, Jani Khel and Tirah Valley.
Security circles questioned whether the lives of these soldiers are not valuable to PTI politicians, who are openly supporting these extremist groups.
“We should not forget that similar resolutions were passed in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly from 2002 to 2007, which only fueled terrorism. Many operations and sacrifices are required to restore peace,” the security official said. Told the war.
He said that due to the bad decisions of the PTI government, the security personnel and the people of the province are now facing a new wave of terrorism. Doesn’t this action of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government clearly show that PTI is supporting these extremist groups?
How is it possible to negotiate with terrorists who are openly waging war against your country, its people and its security forces? The official said that without the complete elimination of these extremists, sustainable peace was not possible in the past and will never be possible. Negotiations and resettlement of terrorists worsen the situation instead of solving it. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa understand this, and it would be better if the government also understands this.
