ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Education has announced that all educational institutions working under it in Islamabad will now observe Saturday as a working day.

Accordingly, only Sunday will be a designated holiday.

The change, effective from today (Saturday) to February 1, 2025, is aimed at making up for the educational losses caused by the closure of schools and colleges in the federal capital due to protests by the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf this month. . Officials said these disruptions caused significant learning losses, forcing the FDE to implement a six-day workweek on a temporary basis.

He said that all FDE-affiliated schools and colleges, both urban and rural, need to follow the new schedule within the pre-determined official timings to ensure that students meet their academic targets for the year. do

Previously, school hours were changed for the winter to protect children and staff from the cold weather.

According to the FDE notification, schools will function from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, Friday classes will be held from 8 am to 12 noon. Evening shift schools will run from 2:30 PM to 6 PM.
