Leicester City have appointed former PSV Eindhoven boss Ruud van Nistelroy as their new manager.

The Dutchman replaced Steve Cooper, who was Fired last weekend After just 12 Premier League matches in charge of Fox.

He has signed a contract at the King Power Stadium until June 2027.

Van Nistelrooy’s appointment comes two weeks after he left his role as interim head coach at Manchester United following the arrival of Ruben Amorim.

“I’m proud, I’m excited,” said Van Nistelrooy, 48.

“Everyone I speak to is enthusiastic about Leicester City. They have the quality of people working at the club, the supporters and of course the recent history of the club is impressive.

“I’m excited to get started and get to know everyone and help the football club as much as I can.”

Leicester are 16th in the Premier League, one point above the relegation zone, and travel to Brentford on Saturday.

First-team coach Ben Dawson will take charge of the team in west London before Van Nistelrooy takes charge of the Foxes for the first time at home to West Ham on December 3.

Van Nistelrooy oversaw three wins and a draw during his four games at United, including two wins against Leicester in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.
