ISLAMABAD: Former Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has taken strict exception to the violation of Article 154(3) of the Constitution for not calling a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) on behalf of the federal government within 90 days. CI meeting should be called immediately.
“The CCI has not been convened for more than nine months and the 1973 Constitution continues to be violated on a daily basis,” he said in a statement on Friday. The Sindh government has written to the Prime Minister’s Office to convene a meeting to resolve urgent matters, particularly the water issue related to the canals of the Indus River.
He said that Clause 3, Article 154, Constitution, 1973 provides that when a meeting is requested by the provincial government on an urgent matter, as in this case in Sindh, the Prime Minister calls the meeting. will
Rabbani argued that not calling such a meeting continued to violate another provision of the 1973 Constitution.
