ISLAMABAD: Assistant Prime Minister for Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Tuesday reiterated the demand for the Charter of Economy, saying that if the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) agrees to it, Pakistan’s “Oran” Sure.
Leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) were referring to the newly launched five-year national economic transformation plan “Iran Pakistan”.
Political stability is possible only through negotiations. […] We have to come on one page for the development of Pakistan, said Sanaullah Geo News Program ‘Capital Talk’.
The Muslim League-N-led federal government earlier this month began talks with arch-rival PTI at Parliament House after months of political tension.
The PTI’s negotiating committee had set a deadline of January 31 after meeting its party founder in Adiala jail a day earlier, with the May 9 riots and November 26 late-night crackdown and “political prisoners”. Demands for release were repeated.
The two sides are set to hold multiple meetings to reach a solution with their next meeting on January 2.
Speaking on the Today show, Sanaullah noted that political talks would begin on January 2, urging the opposition to hold peaceful protests and refrain from “attacks”. He further said that no limit should be crossed during the protest.
Moreover, he asked the opposition to provide justice to Pakistan before seeking justice for any individual.
In response to a question, the prime minister’s aide said that there has been a slight improvement and reduction in inflation in the country. He added that as a result of our efforts, Pakistan can return to the position of 2017.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched the five-year national economic transformation plan “Oran Pakistan”, which aims to achieve sustainable export-led economic growth based on the 5Es – Exports, e-Pakistan, Environment. , Energy, Equity and Empowerment
‘Hybrid System’
Speaking on the same show, PTI Senator Barrister Ali Zafar said that political stability is possible only when the people of Pakistan have their rights enshrined in the constitution. “A hybrid system will not bring stability even in 2025,” he added.
He expressed regret that terrorism-related incidents have increased manifold in 2024, calling for mutual consultation to solve the problem of terrorism.
Casting doubt on the government’s claim of economic growth, Zafar said the country’s economy grew by only 0.9 per cent in 2024, while agriculture and IT industries were hit hard.
Emphasizing the need for rule of law, the senator said that law should be equal for all citizens. “People should have the right to protest peacefully and the government should not stop them,” he added.
In response to a question, he said that opposition and politics are kept aside during negotiations. He added that “it is better not to issue statements against each other during the negotiations”.
