Rajinder Meghwar has become Pakistan’s first Hindu Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) officer after taking charge of his post in Faisalabad.

Meghwar, a youth hailing from Badin, a destitute area of Sindh, is posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Faisalabad Police, Gulbarg. After clearing the CSS exam, he joined the police department.

On his appointment as an officer in the police department, ASP Meghwar said he was very happy that his dream of serving the public had come true.

In his opinion, he said, he could do more for the people of his community in the police department than he felt he could in other departments.

“Being in the police department, we can solve people’s problems on the ground, which we can’t do in other departments,” he said.

On the other hand, the police authorities are also optimistic about the appointment of a Hindu youth as ASP in Faisalabad for the first time after the establishment of Punjab Police.

Police officials said that Meghwar will help in maintaining law and order as well as solving the problems of minorities.

“We are fortunate to have a Hindu officer. His inclusion will be very beneficial in Faisalabad. It will promote the concept of inclusion in the police.”

Meanwhile, Roop Mati, a woman belonging to a minority community in Rahim Yar Khan, has also cleared the CSS exam.

Roop Mati has expressed his desire to highlight Pakistan’s soft image worldwide by working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
