Tom Parker Bowles, Queen Camilla’s son, has shared harrowing details of his time working as a teenager at Harrods, featuring a haunting account of the department store’s former owner, Mohammed Al Fayed.
Addressing the The go-to food podcast, Parker Bowles described Al Fayed as “terrifying” to his staff, revealing that employees were well aware of his predatory behavior.
Bowles recalled that Al Fayed, who owned the popular London store for 25 years, had a notorious reputation for talking to “pretty girls”, an attitude widely recognized by those who worked there.
“Everybody knew he was wrong,” he said, adding that al-Fayed’s actions were no secret among the staff.
It comes amid a police investigation into the alleged abuse of at least 11 women between 1977 and 2013, with the youngest victim aged just 13.
Al Fayed died last year, but his disturbing legacy continues to make headlines. Their son, Dodi, died tragically in 1997 in the same car accident as Princess Diana.
He described al-Fayed as “terrifying”, recalling how the powerful businessman would make his rounds at the store surrounded by guards.
His reputation for creating a toxic and unsafe environment at Harrods has been confirmed by US Attorney Gloria Allred, who described the store as “toxic, unsafe and abusive” under his leadership.
