Special prosecutor Kerry Morrissey withdrew the state’s appeal, originally filed in November, according to a statement from the First Judicial District Attorney’s office.
“The appeal would have challenged the court’s dismissal of criminal charges against producer and actor, Alec Baldwin, for involuntary manslaughter in the tragic on-set shooting of cinematographer, Halina Hutchins. rust on October 21, 2021,” the statement said.
“The FJDA commends Morrissey for his work in successfully prosecuting two cases of national attention, including Hannah Gutierrez-Reid’s,” the district attorney’s office said. “FJDA supports the Hutchins family and their continued fight for justice in civil court.”
“Today’s decision to dismiss the appeal is the final confirmation of what Alec Baldwin and his attorneys have said from the beginning – It was an unspeakable tragedy, but Alec Baldwin committed it. There is no rule of law in New Mexico.”
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
