As the royal family, or what’s left of it, put up a united front during a Christmas walk to their Norfolk estate, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated an intimate festive gathering.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have not vacationed with their UK family since 2018, received an important message from the royal family despite ongoing differences.
A royal expert warned that while reports had suggested peace talks could be on the horizon, the situation behind the scenes appeared to be worsening with Harry’s latest fight.
“I’m not predicting any progress in mending fences with the King and William in the New Year,” royal correspondent Jenny Bond said. OK! magazine.
Prince Harry is understood to be returning to the UK in January for his case against the UK Home Office to win the right to pay for police protection for himself and his family. However, the affair has become the latest obstacle to a reunion between the royals.
“The court case against the Home Office is putting Charles in a very awkward position,” Bond pointed out.
He noted that the matter was becoming “a thorn in the side of the royal family”.
According to reports, King Charles has been urged to stay away from his estranged son to avoid any legal repercussions if he tries to reconnect with Harry.
Earlier, royal biographer Robert Hardman explained that Harry’s case could cause major problems if he “misremembered” any incident or statement from his meeting with his father, leaving the case entirely unsolved. But finish.
The king’s son is suing the king’s ministers in the king’s courts. The senior constitutional expert and adviser to the royal family told Hardman that this was pulling the monarch in three directions.
“You also have a situation where the king’s son publishes accounts of private conversations, some of which are inaccurate, shall we say,” which could pose a “serious legal risk.”
While the prospects for a reunion look bleak at this point, it remains to be seen if any of the royals enter the cave and have a change of heart.
