Chairman M. Arshad Khan Jadoon expressed deep concern over the incidents and termed the attacks on media organizations and officials as a clear violation of freedom of press and journalistic integrity. “No one will be allowed to intimidate or harm media professionals or institutions under any circumstances,” he said. In the attack, a group of 50 to 60 protesters tried to force their way into the National Press Club. Reports suggest that they tried to break down a gate, harassed staff, and scaled the walls of the compound.
Women journalists were among those targeted, and several journalists carrying out their duties elsewhere in Islamabad were injured in the attacks. The PCP Chairman reiterated the PCP’s resolve to stand by the journalist community and uphold their safety and dignity. “The PCP will not tolerate any attempt to undermine the freedom of the press or endanger the lives of journalists. Such actions are an affront to democracy and the rule of law,” he asserted. reiterated its commitment to protect the rights of journalists and ensure a free and safe environment for media professionals across Pakistan.
