To avoid any disaster in the future, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Monday that preparations should be made on a war footing to deal with climate change and expected floods.
Addressing the convocation of Sindh University, PPP Chairman termed climate change as the biggest problem in the world.
Drawing his attention to this issue, Bilawal said that it is a big threat to our future generations. Referring to the “disastrous” floods of 2022 in Sindh, the PPP chairman said that the melting of snow would cause huge losses to the people.
According to the report issued by the Sindh government, more than 678 people lost their lives due to floods in Sindh in 2022, besides this disaster damaged more than 1.6 lakh houses, destroyed crops standing on 3.5 lakh acres, 6.8 A million people were displaced and 216,683 people died. the animal
Addressing the students today, the PPP Chairman said that the new generation will have to make decisions about their future. He raised questions on long load shedding, adoption of old and inefficient methods for power generation and import of electricity.
“God has blessed us with the largest coal mine in the world.”
It is worth mentioning here that Sindh’s Thar Coalfield is one of the largest coalfields in the world. It is endowed with 185 billion tons of lignite coal, which can generate more than 100,000 megawatts of electricity for more than two centuries.
The PPP chairman was of the view that they can generate cheap electricity and also deal with climate change.
He added that there have been attempts to “control and censor you” in the past.
“Together we will write our own digital bill of rights.” He said that they have to raise their voice for their rights.
The PPP leader urged students to fight for a digital bill of rights, saying it was their democratic right.
