Bannu: Suspected militants martyred a police constable near Gul Zaman Mosque in Thana Cantonment. It has been learned that the armed men opened fire on the constable Kamran Khan who was near the mosque.
He was seriously injured in the firing and succumbed to his injuries before being rushed to the hospital. Later his body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem, the accused managed to escape from the spot after the attack. The police team reached the spot and started the search operation.
Meanwhile, the martyred policeman was laid to rest with state honors at his native graveyard in Bannu. The funeral prayer was performed in Police Lines Bannu.
Senior officials including Deputy Inspector General of Police Bannu Range Imran Shahid, District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner, Police Officers, officials and others participated in the funeral prayer.
Bannu police force saluted the martyred policeman. A wreath of flowers was placed on the coffin and special prayers were offered for him. On this occasion, DIG Banu Imran Shahid said that such acts of terrorism cannot weaken the resolve of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He further said that the police will leave no stone unturned to maintain law and order and restore peace.
