SEOUL: A plane carrying 181 people has crashed at South Korea’s Moan airport in the southwest of the country, Yonhap news agency reported on Sunday.
“A plane carrying 175 passengers, 6 crew members crashed at Muan Airport,” Yonhap reported, adding that 23 people were confirmed dead or injured.
An earlier report said a plane skidded off the runway and crashed at South Korea’s Moan International Airport, with 23 confirmed dead.
The Jeju Air plane, carrying 175 passengers and six flight attendants, was returning from Thailand when the accident occurred during landing, the report said. The airport is in South Korea.
Images shared by local media showed smoke billowing from the plane.
According to Yonhap, one person was found alive while the rescue mission was underway. The news agency did not immediately provide details of the casualties.
