Paris Hilton reminisces about the “holy trinity” with Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan.
The media personality celebrated the 18th anniversary of the legendary paparazzi photo featuring herself, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan by celebrating the moment on Instagram.
“18 years ago today, this photo became the moment that defined an era,” Hilton wrote alongside the iconic photo on Wednesday. “@BritneySpears, @LindsayLohan, and me — holy trinity. Instantly popular #LovesIt #Sliving #Y2K.”
The photo, taken in November 2006 as the trio left a party at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, quickly became a pop culture phenomenon.
However, Hilton later revealed that the night was not as carefree as it appeared.
Speaking on his podcast, This is Paris.in 2021, Hilton explained that the photo evoked an awkward conversation between herself and Lohan, who were feuding at the time.
“[Britney and I] Walking to the car, and suddenly there were tons of paparazzi,” Hilton recalled. “As we were walking to the car, Lindsey came up. It was kind of weird because we were doing some drama.
The drama began with a video in which Lohan accused Hilton of hitting her. Hilton said she invited the paparazzi to ask Lohan directly about the claim.
“At that moment, I saw Lindsay walking toward us, and I said, ‘Why don’t you ask her?'” Hilton recalled.
“And Lindsay said … ‘No, Paris would never hit me. I’ve known him since I was 15.’ It was basically just not admitting what he did. It was very strange, you know, to be asked that question, and it was just strange how the whole thing happened.
Moments later, Hilton saw Lohan get into his car. “We weren’t getting along, so I was polite,” Hilton explained. “It was really hard to get out of there because I couldn’t see through all the cameras.”
gave Simple life The star said that she and Lohan were once close friends, but their relationship became strained.
“He did some things to really hurt me and betray my trust, and cause a lot of drama,” Hilton said.
Reflecting on his younger years now, Hilton chalks up the stress to immaturity. At that time, Lohan was 20 years old while Hilton was 25 years old.
“When I think about it now, we were so young, so immature. It was like high school drama, especially in the L.A. scene,” he explained. “And with the media constantly trying to stir things up and make things worse than they already are to bring it to life in public.”
Hilton added, “At the time, the media had a lot of fun with girls feuding with each other.”
