gave Carolina Panthers‘ Fears about their rookie running back Jonathan Brooks were confirmed Monday, as the second-round pick tore his ACL again, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
It’s an unfortunate situation for Brooks, a second-round pick out of Texas, as he tore the same right ACL he rehabbed from last year’s tear during his final season. The Longhornsthe team announced Monday.

The injury was a non-contact situation, as Brooks tried to cut to his left while planting on his right foot, but he quickly went down as he sensed something was wrong. It was only the first quarter against. Philadelphia Eagles.
Brooks tried to walk to the sideline under his own power, but fell to the turf and needed help to get off the field.
His comeback tore his ACL in November 2023 during Texas’ run to the College Football Playoff, a blow not only to the Longhorns but to Brooks’ draft stock.
Brooks had 1,139 rushing yards and 286 receiving yards with 11 total touchdowns in 11 games for the Longhorns before being injured in 2023 – his first year in college football.
Many thought he would be a first-round pick because of his success in Austin last year, but he slipped to the second round where the Panthers took him at No. 46 overall after suffering an ACL injury. Teams knew he needed time to continue his recovery, and the Panthers were ready to help him in the process.
There were some who questioned whether Brooks should even see the field this season, as Carolina struggled once again after finishing 2-15 last season.
But Brooks was on the field to make his NFL debut in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs, even though Chuba Hubbard led the offense.
