This development was revealed during a meeting between Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and the Head of Communications of the Turkish Presidency, Farahtin Ultun, in Istanbul.
In the meeting, the parties discussed important issues including strengthening cooperation in the media sector, promotion of public diplomacy and elimination of Islamophobia.
They also discussed disinformation and anti-disinformation measures, exchanged media delegations and developed joint productions.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Turkey’s Directorate of Communication also agreed to form a working group and appoint focal persons from both sides.
The Federal Minister said that Pakistan and Turkey have historical and fraternal relations and there are vast possibilities of cooperation in the field of media.
Tarar said that increasing media cooperation between the two countries will strengthen public relations.
Cooperation and joint projects in the field of entertainment and tourism were also discussed in the meeting.
Tarar said that producing joint productions between Pakistan and Turkey would increase cultural exchanges between the two countries, adding, “We have to make the younger generation aware of the historical relations between Pakistan and Turkey”.
Federal Minister of Information invited Professor Altun to visit Pakistan.
Professor Ultun expressed keen interest in the development of media in Pakistan.
He said that the Turkish play Ertugrul Ghazi was very popular in Pakistan and Pakistani artists and musicians were very popular in Turkey. He said that the cooperation of media in both countries will be helpful in the fight against Islamophobia and misinformation.
The Minister thanked Professor Ultun for the coverage of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in the Turkish media.
