Islamabad: Pakistan and China on Saturday expressed their commitment to high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, with an emphasis on industrialization and special economic zones (SEZ’s), clean energy, agriculture and livelihood projects. will
The development took place during the fifth meeting of the CPEC Joint Working Group on International Cooperation and Coordination (JWG-ICC) held in Beijing.
On Saturday, Foreign Office spokesperson said in a statement that the meeting was jointly chaired by Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and China’s Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong.
Both sides also recognized the important role of CPEC in promoting regional connectivity, win-win cooperation and shared prosperity, including partnerships with other countries.
Both sides reviewed with satisfaction the progress made since the fourth meeting of JWG-ICC held in Islamabad.
The Foreign Secretary described CPEC as a cornerstone of economic cooperation and a bright symbol of lasting friendship between the two countries.
The Chinese Vice Foreign Minister highlighted the strong inter-linkages of the five new corridors introduced under CPEC 2.0, i.e. Development, Livelihood, Innovation, Open and Green Corridor with Pakistan’s National Development Framework centered on 5 E. , namely exports, e-Pakistan, energy, environment and equity.
The two sides expressed their determination to deepen cooperation in the fields of media, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts to accelerate the construction of a China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

The two countries also noted with satisfaction the positive trend of bilateral relations and deepened their partnership based on all-weather strategic cooperation in accordance with the consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries during the fourth round of Pakistan-China bilateral political talks. He reiterated his commitment to Consultation (BPC).
The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues and agreed to further enhance contacts and consultations, including high-level exchanges and dialogue mechanisms.
Describing Pakistan-China relations as special and unique, Baloch said that the government and people of Pakistan deeply cherish the enduring friendship between the two countries.
The statement added that Islamabad and Beijing also stressed the need to strengthen their mutual cooperation at multilateral forums, including the United Nations Security Council.
Later, the Foreign Secretary also met Executive Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu in which they discussed Pakistan-China relations as well as regional and international issues of common interest.
