Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reiterated his commitment to inclusion and empowerment in a special event on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024.
Organized by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPD) on Tuesday, the event highlighted resilience, talent and leadership, with this year’s theme “Enhancing Disability Leadership for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future”. .
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Haseeb Khan, Marvin Lobo, Tabish Shehzad, Raunaq Lakhani, Richard Gere, and Zakaria Goodall, as well as families of persons with disabilities. Secretary DEPD Taha Farooqui appreciated the exemplary contribution of the Chief Minister for the welfare of children and disabled persons while stressing the Sindh government’s initiatives for health, education, training, employment and rehabilitation.
Before a diverse audience that included government officials, private sector representatives, and persons with disabilities, CM Shah highlighted his government’s significant progress in providing equal opportunities to persons with disabilities. He spoke passionately about various initiatives in health, inclusive education, vocational training, employment and rehabilitation, stressing the importance of collaboration with private institutions to create inclusive and inclusive centres.
