PESHAWAR: Directorate General Law and Human Rights, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa organized a two-day training workshop for District Attorneys and Human Rights Professionals in collaboration with International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC).
The training was inaugurated by Ghulam Ali, Director General, Law and Human Rights Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The workshop was designed and dedicated to the promotion of international humanitarian law and legal education.
Organizers said the main objective was to increase the understanding and application of human rights among district attorneys, lawyers, civil society organizations and human rights professionals.
It also aimed to foster collaboration between the government and NGOs for the promotion and protection of human rights across the province. He stressed the importance of human rights education.
“This workshop represents an important step in the KP government’s commitment to uphold and advance basic human rights in the province. Legal and human rights professionals will be equipped with the necessary tools, knowledge and skills to protect human rights. And by equipping them with skills,” he said. It is also important to remember that human rights principles are not just legal mandates, the official said. They are a reflection of our common humanity.
“They remind us of our collective responsibility to protect and preserve human dignity, even in the most difficult circumstances,” he said, and as district attorneys and human rights professionals, Participants should have the power to make a significant impact in this sphere.
The workshop featured a series of comprehensive sessions covering a range of topics, including an introduction to international humanitarian law, mechanisms for the protection of rights, particularly in conflict zones and other troubled areas.
