KARACHI: One person was killed and over 24 injured in a tragic multi-vehicle collision on the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway, rescue sources said. Geo News.
The accident took place when four vehicles including two passenger buses from Hyderabad to Karachi collided on a busy highway near Karachi.
Rescue sources say that the process of identifying the dead and injured is ongoing. Police confirmed that the deceased was a youth.
Rescue operations were in full swing at the scene, with ambulances on hand for immediate assistance. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi Trauma Center for medical assistance.
Police said the incident took place when a passenger bus skidded and overturned after light rain. This started a chain reaction, another passenger bus and two cars collided with it, while an oil tanker also collided with a container truck as the driver tried to brake suddenly to avoid the accident.
“The passenger bus lost its balance and overturned, causing another bus coming from behind to hit it,” police said.
Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to various reasons including carelessness of drivers, dilapidated roads and inclement weather etc.
A few days ago, at least 18 people were killed and 37 injured in two different traffic accidents.
