Ohio State Rep. Josh Williams announced Wednesday that he has introduced the Ohio Sportsmanship Act in response to a fight between the Buckeyes that broke out after a Nov. 30 rivalry game. And the Wolverines.
“I am proud to introduce the OHIO Sportsmanship Act to criminalize flagging at midfield in the state of Ohio,” Williams wrote in a post on X .

“Behavior that incites violent altercations and endangers our law enforcement officers has no place on the football field.”
Michigan players celebrating a 13-10 victory over Ohio State attempted to throw a flag over the OSU logo and were then charged by their opponents. A brawl ensued, and law enforcement used pepper spray to break up the crowd of players who continued to push.
“Multiple officers representing Ohio and Michigan deployed pepper spray,” Ohio State Police said in a statement. Michigan players can be seen rubbing their eyes after exposure to chemical burns.

The new bill outlaws the act on game days, specifically at the Buckeyes’ home field, Ohio Stadium.

“No person shall place a flag with a flag on the center of the football field at Ohio State University’s Ohio Stadium on the day of any college football game, whether before, during, or after the game,” Legislative States
If so passed, flaggers at Ohio Stadium could be found guilty of a fifth-degree felony, punishable by jail and fines.
