The new Gwadar International Airport is all set to open its doors to passengers by the end of this month, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) announced on Friday.
A spokesman for the authority confirmed that preparations for the operation of the airport are in final stages and are expected to be completed by the end of the month.
Recently PAA Acting Director General Zeeshan Saeed along with Deputy DG Airports Sadiq Rehman reviewed the airport’s preparations.
Project Director Faizullah Khattak apprised the officials about the operational preparations of the facility.
During the visit, the project team also apprised the stakeholders of the airport about the business opportunities available and the economic zones associated with the project.
Acting DG expressed satisfaction over the progress of the preparations.
This state-of-the-art airport, equipped with modern facilities, has cost 246 million dollars, including a grant from China. Equipped with a large runway and a modern terminal building, it is capable of accommodating all types of large aircraft.
The airport is expected to significantly boost trade and economic growth in the region, positioning Gwadar as a major hub for trade and connectivity.
