A teacher has been fired after sending a nude and sexually explicit photo of himself to a group of young women.
Nemia Rookwood, 33, was working at Lincoln University Technical College when the crime took place in 2018.
At the Teaching Regulation Agency hearing, Rookwood denied 13 allegations and did not accept that he was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct.
However, the panel found that his actions brought the teaching reputation into disrepute and said his conduct fell “significantly below the expected standards of the profession”.
Rookwood faced 13 allegations, 12 of which were found unproven..
However, the panel found the allegation that he had sent unsolicited and intimate images of himself to a group of young women he had met in a business context.
None were disciples and they were all adults.
The panel concluded that Rookwood had failed to observe appropriate boundaries and had failed to have an appropriate and professional respect for the school’s ethos, policies and practices.
In making his decision, he gave her credit for admitting to a witness at the time that she had sent the sexually explicit image.
However, it noted that he had provided “no explanation for his misconduct” and had “shown no remorse”.
The panel added: “Mr Rookwood was in his first years of teaching at the time of the misconduct, and the panel was concerned by his lack of insight, which indicates a risk of future recurrence”.
The Secretary of State agreed to enforce an injunction banning Rookwood from teaching for eight years. He cannot apply for it till December 2032.
